Brittany Barker named Activities Director for Jordan Public Schools

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Jordan Public Schools (JPS) is thrilled to announce Brittany Barker as the new Activities Director. Pending school board approval, Ms. Barker will start on July 1, 2026.

Ms. Barker was born and raised in Apple Valley, Minnesota, and comes to Jordan Public Schools with a depth of experience and knowledge in athletics and activities. She has been serving as an English Teacher at Eastview High School for the past 10 years, and as the head gymnastics coach for the past eight. Ms. Barker graduated from Eastview High School where she was a three sport athlete in diving, gymnastics and track, and was involved in the choir program all four years. She received an English Education degree from North Central University, a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction and a MEd in Leadership in Education from the University of Minnesota, and recently completed her K-12 Principal certification through the University of Minnesota.

Ms. Barker is looking forward to the opportunity to expand the opportunities available to students where they can grow, thrive, lead, and discover more about themselves. She’s excited about building an activities program where every student feels connected, challenged, and valued. When asked about her new role she said, “I believe in the power of co and extra-curricular activities and know just how meaningful these experiences are in the development of young people.”

Outside of school, Brittany lives in Prior Lake with her partner, Andy, his daughter Everly (5), her two kids Brooks (6), and Aspen (5), and their one-year-old golden retriever Maci. She’s an avid reader who tries to read 75 books a year (please talk to her about books!), maintains a vegetable garden, loves baking and cooking with her sourdough starter, and loves to run! She is currently on track to run eight races this year ranging from 5ks to her third half marathon this upcoming fall!

Superintendent Evenson noted, “Ms. Barker brings a depth of experience, education and passion for her work growing student leaders. We are so excited for her to join the Jordan Team!” Ms. Barker will work closely with current Activities Director, John Buteyn, this summer to ensure a smooth transition.
